Someone else on the same train had the same issue. He also threatened to call the police, take our passports and end up missing our flights if we did not pay. He charged us 14 euro fare and and extra 50 euros fine as it was being bought on the train. I told them that it hadn’t said this on the machine and nowhere on the ticket does it specify this and offered to pay the cost of the ticket for my child. The 14 years I had seen was for a different train. When on the train the rude conductor told us that a child was up to not including 12 years. I checked in English on the automated machine and information said child was aged up to 14. We bought tickets to the airport for two adults and two children. All in all I have nothing negative to say about the journey and would highly recommend! Getting off the train in Rome was again incredibly easy and the location of Roma Termini made it really simple to get anywhere in Rome because of how central it was. ![]() The actual journey was really nice and relaxing with some amazing views heading into Rome, and also back out again at the end of my trip. ![]() I booked my ticket via an app called Headout which meant I didn’t need to get my ticket validated, just scan the QR code in the app to get through the barriers and then the conductor scans your ticket during the journey to ensure it’s valid. It’s so easy to find with signposts everywhere, getting to the right platform was super straightforward, I didn’t have to wait for a train as one was already boarding, (they run every 15 minutes so wouldn’t have been a long wait anyway). Having never travelled solo before I was apprehensive about all aspects of my trip, I have to say though boarding the Leonardo Express was one of my best ideas.
